Style Focus: Grace Alex

Posted on 4:10 PM by tripalh

Our Style Focus this week features a style loving young lady Grace, who is working hard (whilst looking good) to complete her final year at university.

My name is Grace Alex and I am a final year student.
I love reading, designing clothing and shopping.

I love fashion and I would describe my style as being more so vintage. I love the edge vintage clothes gives.
I love looking decently dressed because it gives me some level of class.

I really don't have a favourite clothing brand but I tend to often lean to H&M or Atmosphere brands.

IMy Favorite clothing stores shop is Truworth boutique Abuja.
As for high fashion brands, I would say that Oscar de la renta and Valentino are best for the evening looks.

My fashion tip is that a woman should always create her style and as an African lady I do than with the ankara material available to us.

When it comes to beauty I try to keep it very simple. I stick to natural products and believe in washing my face more regularly.

Grace definitely loves bright colours and she pulls them off really well.  I also love the strong influence of cultural prints and designs in her style. Very classy lady!
What do you think of Grace's style?

Relationships: Dear Sir, What Should I Do To Marry A Rich Guy?... J.P. Morgan CEO Responds To A Pretty Woman

Posted on 1:50 PM by tripalh

Whilst I highly doubt the authenticity of this 'letter' it is most definitely worth reading.

A young and pretty lady posted this on a popular forum:

Dear Sir,

What should I do to marry a rich guy?
I’m going to be honest of what I’m going to say here.
I’m 25 this year. I’m very pretty, have style and good taste. I wish to marry a guy with $500k annual salary or above.
You might say that I’m greedy, but an annual salary of $1M is considered only as middle class in New York.
My requirement is not high. Is there anyone in this forum who has an income of $500k annual salary? Are you all married?
I wanted to ask: what should I do to marry rich persons like you?
Among those I’ve dated, the richest is $250k annual income, and it seems that this is my upper limit.
If someone is going to move into high cost residential area on the west of New York City Garden(?), $250k annual income is not enough.
I’m here humbly to ask a few questions:

1) Where do most rich bachelors hang out? (Please list down the names and addresses of bars, restaurant, gym)
2) Which age group should I target?

3) Why most wives of the riches are only average-looking? I’ve met a few girls who don’t have looks and are not interesting, but they are able to marry rich guys.
4) How do you decide who can be your wife, and who can only be your girlfriend? (my target now is to get married)
Ms. Pretty

A philosophical reply from CEO of J.P. Morgan:

Dear Ms. Pretty,
I have read your post with great interest. Guess there are lots of girls out there who have similar questions like yours. Please allow me to analyse your situation as a professional investor.
My annual income is more than $500k, which meets your requirement, so I hope everyone believes that I’m not wasting time here.
From the standpoint of a business person, it is a bad decision to marry you. The answer is very simple, so let me explain.
Put the details aside, what you’re trying to do is an exchange of “beauty" and “money" : Person A provides beauty, and Person B pays for it, fair and square.
However, there’s a deadly problem here, your beauty will fade, but my money will not be gone without any good reason. The fact is, my income might increase from year to year, but you can’t be prettier year after year.
Hence from the viewpoint of economics, I am an appreciation asset, and you are a depreciation asset. It’s not just normal depreciation, but exponential depreciation. If that is your only asset, your value will be much worse 10 years later.

By the terms we use in Wall Street, every trading has a position, dating with you is also a “trading position".
If the trade value dropped we will sell it and it is not a good idea to keep it for long term - same goes with the marriage that you wanted. It might be cruel to say this, but in order to make a wiser decision any assets with great depreciation value will be sold or “leased".
Anyone with over $500k annual income is not a fool; we would only date you, but will not marry you. I would advice that you forget looking for any clues to marry a rich guy. And by the way, you could make yourself to become a rich person with $500k annual income. This has better chance than finding a rich fool.

Hope this reply helps.

Signed,

J.P. Morgan CEO

Mid-Week Message: Shake It Off

Posted on 4:22 PM by tripalh

When people talk and say all kinds of nasty things in their closet, don’t bother. The more they talk about you, the more God hears them and in return, bless you. So many of them have never seen you. Others have seen you just once in their entire life but because their nature is that of lies and mischief, they manufacture all sorts against you.

Some, in the process of trying to win friends, go out of their way to vomit all kinds of lies against you. I used to bother about them, but lately, when I get all their inbox chats and BBM exchanges against me, I just laugh. It hurts, I know.

It wasn’t easy when I hadn’t trained myself never to bother about negative comments against me. Now, I enjoy negative comments about me because they energize me to keep moving.
One thing about people who are often talked about is that they are great. Even if they weren’t created to be great, they end up great because there is this positive energy they gain from the mouth of their enemies.

David was criticized and disrespected by his own people. They tried to push him down, but God pushed him up. Stay on the high road and ignore your critics. God knows exactly how to take care of your critics. Quit letting what they say about you sour your day.

Be happy, your day of vindication is coming and they will all bury their faces in shame. Do you know what? God has said that any nation that refuses to bow before you shall be destroyed right before you. You are special.

The more success you have, the more the opposition. Not everyone will celebrate the favour of God in your life. They can’t understand why you won’t be on that same level with them. Ask God for the grace to overlook insults. Never spend time being critical of someone who is critical of you. Billy Graham was neglected, criticized and disrespected the first time he went to England, but they later celebrated him.

Your coworker is talking to others about you, ignore him and keep working. The fact is that they are doing that because they so much want to be like you and that isn’t happening. Some even want to become very close to you but they can’t humble themselves for that. The only way they think they are going to be fulfilled is by criticizing and telling lies against you. The more they talk, the emptier they get.

You are never going to please everyone. Keep your face straight on the goal and keep moving. Love them and be nice to them, but never let their wickedness stop you. You are responsible for your own happiness, not for the happiness of someone else. Ignore them and be sure you have no bitterness against them. Let them call you rude, arrogant…you know that’s not what it is.
Joel Osteen told a story about a mayor who was loved by everyone but one man. He was so bothered by this that he started ignoring his office, the people, and his calling just to fight this one man. At the end of the day, he lost his office and then his life.

This is what they want to achieve. You can’t see who you are and what you carry but your enemies have seen it and so they just won’t let it happen. If they try to belittle you, Shake them off and keep moving. Your assignment is bigger than those little things. Shake them off and keep moving. Before you leave the house, spray on the pan. Keep the no-stick anointing on. The more they talk, the more God takes you there.

Career: Pursuing YOUR Passion

Posted on 12:05 PM by tripalh

My passion, my dream… is to SERVE, INSPIRE, LOVE and LIVE……If I could do this ALLLLLLL DAY, EVERYDAY….I would be soooooo happy! I would do this for free. Inspired Junkies was created out of LOVE as an opportunity to Inspire and Serve others through inspiration, encouragement and uplifting.

Finding my true passion came after facing an illness. It was at that moment that my 1st book title came to me and thoughts of what I truly enjoyed. Many times I tried to push the thoughts out of my mind because that was not initially what I had planned for my life, so it took a while before I totally said ok I SURRENDER.

Honestly I was bunt out from my profession, I wanted to do something different that provided me balance, excitement and challenge. I didn’t want to sit at a desk allllll day and stare at a computer, I wanted interaction with people because I loved to talk and meet new people, but I wanted to travel as well. Countless times I've been at jobs I've HATED…and I've watched close friends work on a job they absolutely hated as well… so I was on a mission.

My mission was to find what I truly loved..I didn't ever want to feel like I was at work again. I’ve always had a desire to work for myself but working for yourself cost MULAAAA! SO what was a Gal to do :-) . So fast forward…It’s 2012 and I found myself out of work for a while…this was a true defining moment because I was so tired of the RAT RACE…looking for a job is like a full time job and draining especially with this economic hardship the country is facing… blah blah blah!

So 2013 my 1st book will be published and I pray for an exciting journey as I continue to write, blog, serve as a inspirational speaker and breast cancer awareness advocate. What is your passion? What is that one thing that makes you cheese from ear to ear? The thing you would do without getting paid?

I grabbed this info below From: Ruth Zive of the Daily Muse…

As Confucius said, “choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life.” It’s great advice, but it’s not always that simple—it can be difficult to figure out what you love and how to parlay that into a viable business or job. So here’s a step-by-step plan for pinpointing your passions—and four ways to help you start turning them into your career.

1. Remember What You Loved as a Child

Often, our truest passions emerge in childhood, only to be squelched by real life pressures. So think about what you loved long before you had to worry about your career. Writing? Science experiments? Taking care of people? Getting back in touch with those instincts is an important step in finding your passion.

2. Eliminate Money from the Equation

If money were no object, what would you do? Would you travel? Spend all of your time with your children? Would you start a charitable organization to help abused women? Of course money can’t be ignored, but don’t let financial pressures dictate your choices. Your career should ultimately lead to financial security, but if financial security is the defining motivator, it’s unlikely you’ll end up doing what you love.

3. Ask Your Friends for Feedback

Sometimes you’re just not the best judge of what makes you happy. Ask the people who know you intimately when you seem the happiest and what you do the most enthusiastically. Their answers may surprise you.

4. Read through a University Course Catalog

Find some quiet time and see which courses naturally interest you. What would you study if you could do it all over? What courses do you think you could teach? Which subjects scare you to death, and which ones do you find boring? Revisiting these possibilities will help point you in the direction of subjects and topics that you love.

5. Identify your Professional Hero

Of everyone you know, either personally or in your extended frame of reference (from your dermatologist to Oprah), whose career would you most want to emulate? Reach out to her to learn more about how she got to where she is, or, if that’s not possible, read everything you can about her career and life.

6. Think of What You Enjoy That You Also Do Well

After you’ve done these exercises, think about what you’ve learned. Focus on the things that you both enjoy and do well—whether you have a way with animals, make a killer lemon tart, or are crazy for origami—and write them down. Then, narrow the list to the top three or four things. Keep it handy, review it often, and use it as your jumping-off point when you’re plotting your career move.

Actress Dakore Egbuson-Akande Talks Married Life, Babies And A Possible Nollywood Comeback

Posted on 11:22 AM by tripalh

Dakore Egbuson-Akande may be married to the son of a billionaire but according to the actress, it doesn't make married life any easier! In a recent interview with Enquirer spilled the beans about the challenges in marriage, plans for more babies, and a possible Nollywood come back.

How old is your daughter now?
She is almost two and to see this helpless little baby now growing amazingly is so interesting. She has started talking gradually, she calls me mama. Let me tell you, it is not easy to be a mother.

But a lot of people who see you will think it is all easy especially because you are married to the son of a billionaire?
No, it is very difficult because I almost had to put Dakore the actor in a separate world. I had to put that on pause so I could focus on being a wife and a mum so now I’m coming back and I thank God for my fans who had been so supportive and patient.

I really hope through me they will understand that a woman can have everything, but not at the same time.

How many more kids are you planning to have?
I don’t know. I am just enjoying having a baby. She is just two years, so I am not in a hurry. God knows my baby means the world to me. She inspires me to want to go back to work. I don’t mind if she ends up an actress. She can do whatever she wants to do in life. I will only encourage her.

That means your husband is not telling you not to act anymore?
No! He never did.

The news was that your hubby and father -in-law asked you to stop acting, how true is that?
You know what, I’m hurt because I’m also a journalist. I studied journalism at the University of Lagos (Mass Communications) so I know what I’m supposed to do if I hear a rumour or have a story. All you journalists needed to do was to call me to verify the story but nobody reached me.

But we heard it was part of the conditions your father in-law gave if you must marry his son?
It’s totally false and has no iota of truth. If that was a condition, I would run the other way and not marry Olumide.

So now that you have started acting, will you still play romantic roles?
I have to consider my husband before taking any role these days. I will not do romantic roles as I used to back in the day. Though, if I get a role that is good and positive, maybe I could act. I am now a mother and a wife. I just have to be more discerning about them.

Don’t you feel threatened by the new faces in Nollywood?
Why should I? The truth is I can’t be threatened by any new faces regardless because I am Dakore and unique in my own way so also are they. And we should be happy for them because we need new faces too to grow. It can’t in anyway affect my market value because everyone has their style.

How is your husband coping now that you are back?
He is doing very well. I must commend him. He understands the nature of my job and he has been very supportive, he is my greatest fan ever. My husband is a very confident man and he understands it’s my job so he is not jealous that I am in the limelight.

Desmond Tutu: "I Would Refuse To Go To A Homophobic Heaven"

Posted on 9:24 AM by tripalh

Desmond Tutu has said he would rather go to hell than worship a homophobic God.

The Nobel peace laureate and anti-apartheid hero was lending his support to a UN-backed campaign for gay rights in his native South Africa.

Though same sex marriages are legal in the country, homosexuals still experience brutal violence. Last month a lesbian was found dead, having been sexually assaulted with a toilet brush.

The retired former Archbishop of Cape Town, 81, is a long-standing campaigner for gay rights, and compared the struggle to that for racial equality in South Africa.

He said: "I would refuse to go to a homophobic heaven. No, I would say sorry, I mean I would much rather go to the other place.

"I would not worship a God who is homophobic and that is how deeply I feel about this.

"I am as passionate about this campaign as I ever was about apartheid. For me, it is at the same level."

Same-sex relationships are illegal in more than a third of countries around the world and punishable by death in five, said UN human rights chief Navi Pillay, who also spoke at the launch of the Free and Equal campaign in Cape Town.

According to the rights group Amnesty International, homosexual acts are still a crime in 38 African countries.

According to AFP, Ms Pillay said: "People are literally paying for their love with their lives.

"I constantly hear governments tell me, 'but this is our culture, our tradition and we can't change it'... So we have lots of work to do."

I was quite shocked to read this. What do you guys make of this please?

Actress Chika Ike Officially Announces The End Of Her marriage

Posted on 12:16 PM by tripalh

Actress Chika Ike has taken to social networks to announce that her divorce has been finalised today. The star posted a message on her social network.

In a recent interview, Chika opened up on why she was divorcing her husband saying, “Well, you will get to a point in your life when you have to stop lying to yourself. You have to come to terms with your person and tell yourself the truth.

If it is something that is working, it is working and if it is not, it is not. I believe in something, I believe happiness is everything to me so I just had to take that decision, because it wasn’t working and I just had to tell my self the truth.”

Nobody but the couple and God knows what happen in their marriage but Chika sounds all so enthusiastic about it coming to an end. I don't see a need for her to announce it as if it is good news.
